Celebrate the Clearwater ~ 2018

This year's event was held at the Homestead Cabin on Double Arrow. Prior to any presentations, those in attendance could get a sense of CRC's projects by checking out informational posters and talking with CRC staff and board members.

The meeting portion included a review of the accomplishments and projects CRC has been working on this past year by Jon Haufler, the President of the CRC Board of Directors. Jon also announced that Dave Batchelder had been named as the new Executive Director for CRC.

In addition, several "Dragonfly" awards were presented to volunteers who have worked on various projects for CRC over the years.

The Sterlings have been long term Adopt-A-Lake water monitors on Placid Lake, making twice a month observations throughout the summer.

The main presentation (and without a doubt, the reason most folks turned out) was by Kate Davis,  the founder of Raptors of the Rockies. Kate brought four of her raptors with her, including:

  • Sibley, a peregrine falcon
  • Owen, a northern saw whet owl
  • Nigel, a golden eagle
  • Jillian, a great horned owl

Kate shared stories and provided details about each of the birds, entertaining and educating at the same time.
