Growth Habitat: Perennial, grows up to 2 feet tall.

Leaves: Light green, hairy, alternate, and entired, divided, or variously toothed.

Stems: Single or several, erect.

Flowers: Red with yellow rims, 2 to 3 inches across. Each ray petal is 3-lobed. Middle is brownish-red.

Roots: Slender taproot.

Reproduces: By seed.

Habitat: Drought-tolerant, roadsides, open fields.
